Defence Research and Development Organisation
Established in 1958 through the merger of the Technical Development Establishment (TDEs) of the Indian Army, the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP), and the Defence Science Organisation (DSO), DRDO initially comprised 10 laboratories. Since then, it has experienced exponential growth in diverse subject disciplines, laboratory count, achievements, and reputation. As the R&D arm of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, DRDO's mission is to bolster India's defence capabilities with cutting-edge technologies, aiming for self-reliance in critical defence systems. It focuses on providing our armed forces with advanced weaponry and equipment, aligning with the needs of the three services.
